PANASIA SOx Scrubber Increasing ‘MRO’ Service Inquiries

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has decided to comply with the sulfur content of ship fuel below 0.5% from January 1, 2020, which has led many shipowners to install Scrubber as a solution.

3 years after the Scrubber installation, the time for Scrubber sensor calibration is approaching.

The PAH and Turbidity Sensors installed in Scrubber's Water Monitoring System (WMS) must be calibrated to the correct values of both sensors to measure Scrubber Wash-water, as described in the MEPC Rule and the Onboard Monitoring Manual (OMM), a senior approval document.

MEPC.259(68) & MEPC.340(77) / 10.2.2 of Annex 1

“The permissible deviations of the discharge water monitoring equipment should not exceed the following”

PH – 0.2 pH units

PAH – 5% of nominal standard test concentration used. That nominal concentration value should be not less than 80% of the scale range used

Turbidity – 2 FNU or NTU

Calibration intervals should be such that the above performance requirements are met.

Calibration and calibration checks should be done according to manufacture’s specification.

If you do not perform PAH, Turbidity sensor calibration, you will receive some Penalty. For example, when the Port State Control (PSC) comes up to the ship and checks the OMM, a comment will occur if there is no Sensor calibrated cert.

The topic of the future is eco-friendly.

Calibration is very important when using eco-friendly products.

However, due to frequent crew changes, many of the ship's equipment cannot be inspected and identified on time, and the calibration period is often missed.

The Panasia ‘MRO’ service will not only inform you of the calibration period in Maker, but it will also be of great help in pre-inspection and maintenance of equipment.  And most of all, it will ease the work of the crew.

Through calibration, we perform inspections to prevent any problems that can occur, and maximize efficiency in system operation.

This service eliminates the need for you to monitor complicated sensors with many critical points attached to them. It also allows you to promptly schedule maintenance or repairs.

With PANASIA’s ‘MRO’ service, our professionals visit your ships to perform checkups and proactively diagnose any potential issues in need of further inspection.

Also, following each visit, we prepare a report that contains any information and solutions you may need to ensure efficiency in your operations.

Our ‘MRO’ service saves you both management costs and time.
